Josh Copus - Pottery
Josh lives and works in Asheville, North Carolina. His goal as a potter is to make pots that form a union of aesthetic and utility to bring comfort into peoples homes and lives. His pots are designed for people to use and enjoy, they are designed to be handled and it is his belief that through this communication between the user and maker that their true value is realized. He chooses to fire his pots in a wood burning salt kiln, creating an atmosphere that compliments the strong lines and subtle gestures of the forms he makes. The process of wood firing represents the ever evolving balance between his desire for control and his appreciation for the unexpected.
