Barbara Bosco
Several summers ago, while walking near her home, Barbara found two dead monarch butterflies. She brought them to her studio, just to admire their beauty, and they sat on her worktable for several months. While working with her sterling jewelry, she carefully cut a small oval from a wing and inserted it into a setting. The results were just beautiful! From that point, Barbara had her family and friends on a deceased only butterfly lookout. When on the internet one day, she typed "butterfly wings", clicked search, and found butterfly breeders and farms from all over the world.
Because most butterfly species have such a short lifespan, there is always a source of wings. Many breeders and farmers sent their "naturally expired", and she immediately became butterfly enamored. She currently utilizes over 100 species of butterflies and moths, and she is continually amazed at the designs and color combinations. How marvelous to share and extend the beauty of these fantastic jewels of nature. The joy in wearing can never overshadow her joy in creating. |
