As a new spring season blooms with anticipation, we are glad to announce two important events at Crimson Laurel Gallery... our season opener and a new gallery manager!
Our gallery opening has been moved to May 1st to give us a little more time to thaw out from the colder-than-normal Appalachian winter weather.

It also lets the newest member of the Crimson Laurel Gallery family get situated in Bakersville. Andy Palmer of Lisle, New York has accepted the position of gallery manager. Andy brings with him a wealth of experience in the ceramic arts. He is both a gifted teacher and a successful pottery manager. Andy was also a primary mover in the development and implementation of the ceramics department at Cornell University.

Andy arrives this week and will be busy preparing the gallery in the weeks ahead for a fantastic 2014 season. He and his wife Silvia look forward to making your acquaintance.

As the season turns in Appalachia, Crimson Laurel Gallery, like spring, experiences a time of rebirth. No matter one’s religious persuasion, you have to admit resurrection is a rather powerful metaphor. In the mountains of Western North Carolina we look forward to warming days and increasingly lush woodlands. Redbuds will soon be coming out offering color to the roadsides while daffodils are bursting in full glory.

We plan on working hard to make this the best gallery experience for all our stakeholders; artists, curators, employees and especially our loyal customers and collectors. We hope to see you soon at the gallery.

Friends of the Crimson Laurel Gallery,

In our last update, we only gave you a few details about Andy Palmer, our new gallery director. He arrived in Bakersville a couple of weeks ago and is putting the finishing touches on the gallery for Thursday’s annual Spring opening. When we hired Andy, we got a nice surprise and a little more than we bargained for. More about that later.

I had the pleasure of meeting with Nicole Aquillano inside her studio in Boston, MA. We all admire her pieces at Crimson Laurel Gallery on a daily basis and it was such a privilege to chat with her in person & be walked through her process.
